It is essential that when choosing a new set of Upvc lever pad handles, they match the PZ (distance from the handle spindle to the centre of the hole of the cylinder) of your multipoint door locks. This is because the handles need to be aligned in order to ensure that doors stay locked, regardless of whether you are looking from the outside or inside. The handles we offer are designed to work with a variety of standard cylinder locks, however you should always double-check before ordering.
You'll need to remove your handles that you have already installed and then dismantle the lock case if you are upgrading to dual spindle handle levers as this will require a split cylinder inline. You can purchase these separately. We have included a technical illustration in the images of each product.
It is recommended to loosen the screws that are holding your door handle, and then examine the mechanism. You may have to loosen the screws further in the event that they are not tight. Then you can take off the spindle and handle and put in your new door handle made of upvc. Before you screw the handle into the frame, it is recommended to make sure it is in the correct place. You can do this by putting your finger in the space between the door frame and the door handle to ensure that it is level.
Lever/Lever
Lever door handles function as an a multi-point lock using the Euro Cylinder and can be found on most upvc double doors, aluminium doors and a few wooden doors. They are available in two forms, having the lever inside and a paddle on the outside. Sprung - These include a spring cassette inside the backplate to move the handle lever to the horizontal position. Non-sprung - they do not have a spring mechanism, and will need to be manually pulled to raise the handle lever back to its horizontal position.
To repair a door handle lever that is sagging, you'll need to find the hole or detent access pin. It's usually a small hole or protruding ring, or rectangle, that is located on the base of the handle plate. Once you have located the detent access hole or pin, you are able to remove it with an screwdriver.
Once the handle is in a horizontal position, you can re-install the screws and tighten them so that the handle stays fixed to the base plate. It is also advisable to apply a threadlocking adhesive to the screw threads to improve the grip and stop them from becoming loose over time.
Drooping lever door handles could be the result of various causes. The most common reason is that the fixings aren't tight, causing the lever bearing to bind against the door. It could also be that the levers haven't been operated at a right angle, which causes compression of the latch mechanism and prevents it from fully springing into operation.
The most common reason for a spring lever not operating properly is the spring not being in the correct position on the backplate. The simplest way to check this is to move the handle to check whether it changes to the horizontal position.
If your door handles are loose, it is important to identify the problem quickly, as this can lead to excessive wear on the screws and eventually to the handle falling off of the base plate. It is also a good idea to tighten all screws that are loose on a regular basis in order to stop them from loosening.
